Overview

What is API and system integration?

System integration connects separate software, such as a CRM, ERP, e-commerce platform, accounting system or partner service, so they exchange data automatically instead of through exports and re-typing. APIs (application programming interfaces) are the agreed, secure way for systems to request and send that data.

Our integration work covers designing and building APIs, connecting to third-party services, mapping and transforming data between systems, and making sure every transfer is logged, retried when it fails and monitored.

Who it is for

  • Teams copying data between systems by hand
  • Businesses adding a new platform that must work with existing ones
  • Companies offering data or services to partners through an API
  • Organizations whose current integrations fail silently or are hard to maintain

Problems and outcomes

Problems integration solves

  • Manual re-entry and errorsOrders, customers and invoices are copied between systems, causing delays and mistakes.
  • Systems that disagreeDifferent applications show different numbers because data is not synchronized.
  • Fragile point-to-point linksOld scripts and connectors break when one system changes, and nobody notices until something is missing.
  • Partners waiting on filesPartners and customers exchange spreadsheets instead of using a secure, documented API.

Intended outcomes

  • Data entered once and shared automatically between systems
  • Consistent records across CRM, ERP and other platforms
  • Failures that are visible, retried and recoverable

Solution approach

Connected systems with a governed integration layer

The illustration above shows the main building blocks. The implementation and boundaries are agreed around your systems and delivery requirements.

  1. Sources

Identify systems, data owners and available interfaces.

  2. Contracts

Agree schemas, identity, limits and data mappings.

  3. Integration

Transform and route messages with appropriate recovery handling.

  4. Operations

Observe flows, investigate failures and manage version changes.

How it works

How we deliver an integration

Every integration follows the same disciplined steps, whether it connects two systems or ten.

  1. Map

Systems, data objects, direction and frequency of each flow are documented.

    OutputSystem and data-flow inventory

  2. Design

The integration pattern, data mappings, security and error handling are agreed.

    OutputAPI contracts and integration design

  3. Build

APIs and connectors are developed with automated tests.

    OutputImplemented connectors and automated checks

  4. Test

End-to-end testing with realistic data, including failures and retries.

    OutputEnd-to-end and failure-case test findings

  5. Monitor

Go-live with dashboards, alerts and runbooks.

    OutputOperational documentation and handover

Technologies and tools

Platforms and tools we use

Integrations are built with standards and platforms that suit the systems being connected.

  • 01 / Technology stack

    Interfaces and contracts

Clear, documented ways for systems to exchange data.

    • REST
    • GraphQL
    • OpenAPI
    • Webhooks
  • 02 / Technology stack

    Development

Building APIs, connectors and transformation logic.

    • ASP.NET Core
    • Node.js
    • Python
  • 03 / Technology stack

    Integration platforms

Managed services for workflows and API exposure.

    • Azure Logic Apps
    • AWS API Gateway
  • 04 / Technology stack

    Messaging

Reliable, asynchronous delivery where real-time flows need it.

    • Azure Service Bus
    • Azure Event Hubs
    • Kafka
  • 05 / Technology stack

    Authentication

    Secure, standards-based access between systems.

    • OAuth 2.0
    • OpenID Connect

Being able to integrate with a platform does not imply a partnership with its vendor.

Tool selection depends on your existing stack, access, licensing and the agreed scope. Product names identify technologies discussed for this service, not partnerships or certifications.

Deliverables

What you receive

  • API specifications (OpenAPI) for APIs we build
  • Implemented connectors and APIs in your repository
  • Data mapping and transformation rules
  • Automated tests for each integration flow
  • Monitoring, alerting and integration documentation

Dependencies to plan for

  • Access to test environments and API credentials for each system
  • Vendor API limits, available fields and licence terms of third-party platforms
  • Older systems without APIs may need database, file or middleware-based approaches

How we work

How we work on integrations

  • Documented contractsEvery API and data flow has agreed fields, formats and error behavior written down.
  • Failure-aware designRetries, alerts and recovery steps are designed in, not added after the first incident.
  • Security firstCredentials are stored securely and each integration gets only the access it needs.
  • Testable and observableAutomated tests and logs make it easy to see what happened and why.
FAQs

API and system integration FAQs

How much does an integration project cost?

Cost depends on the number of systems and data flows, the quality of existing APIs and whether data must move in real time. A single integration between two systems with good APIs is usually a small, defined project.

How long does it take to integrate two systems?

Timing depends on API availability, number of flows, data quality, vendor access, authentication and failure-handling requirements. Discovery defines a phased estimate instead of assuming all integrations are alike.

Can you integrate systems that do not have an API?

Often, yes. Options include reading from databases, exchanging files on a schedule, or building a small API layer in front of the older system. We assess the safest option during design.

What happens when an integration fails?

Recovery depends on the integration pattern and the connected systems. We agree retry rules, logging, alerts and any error queue or reconciliation process during design so failures can be investigated and recovered.

How is this different from your AI and data integration services?

This service connects business applications and platforms. Our AI and data integration services focus on connecting AI models and building data pipelines for analytics.

Who owns the integrations you build?

Ownership is set out in the contract. Typically, the integration code, specifications and documentation are delivered to you and run in your environment.
